I'm Hungry! Atlanta Restaurant Recommendations

Cover Page

Hey Explorers and Atlanta visitors! This blog post is more of an Atlanta all-inclusive guide to navigate the city's restaurants! This post will be updated periodically as I explore and try more within my city. Browse or search below to find what you are looking for to have a great stay in Atlanta!

South City Kitchen (Southern): When I was thinking about how to describe this restaurant, I called my mom as I have taken her there before. I was like "it is southern food right but more high class?" I proceeded to their website to obtain a link and their description is that it "gives Southern food a modern, upscale spin." I guess I was on point! I have been to the restaurant's locations in Buckhead and Vinings which both had a great environment! I have been with family and friends but I also see it as a place for a great date night!

Location(s): Midtown, Buckhead, Vinings, Alpharetta

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 5 Stars

JCT Kitchen (Southern): This restaurant has their own flare of southern cuisine with a nice ambiance setting. They also have a rooftop bar which was remodeled in 2018 and has amazing views of the skyline. The restaurant and bar is nice for meeting both new and old people. I really enjoy this restaurant to the point I have been by myself to enjoy grits, a drink, or deviled eggs!

Location(s): West Midtown

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 5 Stars

10th & Piedmont (Breakfast, American): This is a great brunch spot with their notable chicken & waffles...on a stick! Serve up some bottomless mimosas and enjoy the quaint atmosphere. I enjoyed the chicken & waffles as well as their grits. I have been with family and friends which both were a good time. Brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays. According to their website, they also serve seafood dinners. I will have to try one day!

Location(s): Midtown

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 3 Stars

Venkman’s (American): Another awesome spot for brunch! But they also offer live entertainment and activities from time to time. They have had a Princess brunch and live jazz! You can sit outside and enjoy the fresh air or inside with a comfortable setting. I have been several times and I have not yet been disappointed!

Location(s): Old Fourth Ward

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 4 Stars

No Mas! Cantina (Mexican): No mas or no more is not what you will say when you visit No Mas! Cantina! It is a Mexican restaurant located close to the Georgia World Congress Center and Mercedes-Benz Stadium. So this is a great place to grab a bite to eat before events nearby. But be early as it can get crowded!

Location(s): Castleberry

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 3.5 Stars

Food at Gypsy Kitchen

Gypsy Kitchen (Spanish, Tapas): This is a place I have fell in love with in the past six months! I have been for a bite to eat after work and a special event. Both times were amazing! They have a great vibe inside and a nice patio. The restaurant serves delicious tapas and pitchers of their special sangrias! Oh and it is in The Shops at Buckhead which will have you feeling like you are a boss lol!

Location(s): Buckhead

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

Southern Gentleman (Southern, American, Gastropub): The neighbor to Gypsy Kitchen! Some friends and I randomly stopped by here after an event at Gypsy Kitchen. We sat at the bar in which our friendly bartender created us special drinks which were delicious and we had several dishes off the menu (in which we shared with one another). I definitely wasn't expecting the restaurant to be this way...at all!

Location(s): Buckhead

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 3.5 Stars

Agavero Cantina (Mexican): Sooo this is our "Cheers" restaurant for my friends and I lol! We meet here any time we want to chat, have dinner, or a quick happy hour. The service is great and the people are friendly. Plus, they have great Mexican food!

Location(s): West Midtown

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 4 Stars

BarTaco (Mexican, Tapas): This restaurant was setup with the best decor in West Midtown! They also collect your orders from your table with a form, so I would hope your order is never wrong. I went here for the first time a few weeks ago...randomly...and I'm like um why haven't I been here before!

Location(s): West Midtown, Inman Park, Chastain Park (they also are located in other states)

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 4 Stars

Food from OLG

Old Lady Gang (Southern): Get ready to visit one of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kandi Burruss-Tucker's restaurant! Oh and be sure to make a reservation at high volume times as there could be a wait. You may catch a celebrity siting or two here or just some live entertainment. The food is also good, especially the salmon...and sweet potatoes!

Location(s): Castleberry

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 3.5 Stars

Six Feet Under (Seafood): This restaurant has amazing views of the city and great selection of food! I was quite impressed with it as I sat on the rooftop with friends over the summer.

Location(s): West Midtown, Grant Park

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 4 Stars

The Flying Biscuit (Breakfast, American): This restaurant has multiple locations but the one in Midtown seems to have its share of a waitlist! They have decent affordable breakfast food but expect a wait.

Location(s): Midtown, Buckhead, Brookhaven, several other locations and states

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 3 Stars

Negril Village (Jamaican): This restaurant brings you Jamaican or Caribbean flavor to all of their meals! They serve lunch, dinner, and brunch with this delicious twang! And I must say the facility is also incredible with a parking lot available right next to it. But if going for brunch, be sure to make reservations as they do get crowded.

Location(s): Downtown

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

Sivas (Mediterranean, Hookah): Grab you some falafel, kebobs, or lamp chops all while you endure yourself with a ice hose hookah (if you like to indulge in that).

Location(s): Midtown

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 3.5 Stars

Vortex (American): The Vortex Bar & Grill may sound familiar to you if you ever used to watch Man vs. Food! This place is known for their burgers especially their challenge burgers such as quadruple coronary bypass burger. Now, I don't suggest eating that if you care about your health but if you are up for it, let me know so I can cheer you on!

Location(s): Midtown, Little Five Points, Comedy Club

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 4 Stars

Takorea (Korean/Mexican): O...M...G! A friend and I went here a few months ago and my digestive issues were getting the best of me. But when I ordered my food, I couldn't help but eat something from there! The food was delicious and the decor was spunky! I can't wait to go back!

Location(s): Midtown, Dunwoody, Upper Westside

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 5 Stars

Divan (Persian, Hookah): This is a cute place to have a private event with friends! You can order dishes, hookah, and lounge in good company.

Location(s): Buckhead

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 3 Stars

Public Kitchen and Bar (American): I was lucky to visit here during lunch a little while ago and was quite impressed. My buffalo chicken wrap (I believe that was the name) was savory. It is also a great setting for any type of meet up!

Location(s): Buckhead

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 4 Stars

Alma Cocina (Tex-Mex): I have been here so many times as I used to work nearby to the point I had to temporarily retire it lol. But it does not disappoint with their special salsas! Plus, its located in the heart of it all!

Location(s): Downtown, Buckhead

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 3.5 Stars

City Winery (American): Make time for a nice evening out at City Winery! Enjoy American style dishes and enjoy your favorite drink while seeing live performances.

Location(s): Ponce City Market

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 3 Stars

Dessert at Juke Joint

Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint (Southern): Catch you some greens, grits, or any type of Southern Style food here in a spacious downtown setting! And if you are lucky, pay $5 more to catch a live jazz performance! Be sure to make reservations here.

Location(s): Downtown, Airport

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 4 Stars

Meehan's Public House (Irish Pub): Do you want to grab a bite to eat at a pub? Visit Meehan's! They have great chicken wings here. Oh and it is quite spacious for a pub...downtown.

Location(s): Downtown, Atlantic Station, Sandy Springs, Vinings

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 3 Stars

Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse (Italian): One of the pricier options on my list but it is definitely one for the romantic setting or business meeting. Get served some nice Italian food here in this luxury setting.

Location(s): Buckhead

Price (from Yelp): $$$

My Rating: 3.5 Stars

Cuts Steakhouse (American): Visit one of the best steakhouses in Atlanta to obtain your luxury southern steakhouse dining experience! I'm not big on beef so I had a lamb burger (which I usually dislike) and it was incredible!

Location(s): Downtown

Price (from Yelp): $$$

My Rating: 4 Stars

Amalfi Pizza (Italian): Visit here to choose from various delicious pizzas! From their House Specialty to the Margherita pizza...not one of them disappoints. They also have amazing appetizers. Plus, you can see cooks prepping dough like you see on tv in the kitchen.

Location(s): Downtown

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

Eclipse Di Luna (Tapas): This restaurant has such an amazing Latin vibe! But most importantly they have great tapas in their cutely decorated restaurants.

Location(s): Buckhead, Dunwoody

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 4 Stars

Twin Smokers (Barbeque): You can never have enough BBQ...right? Well, this is located right near popular tourist attractions such as CNN, World of Coca-Cola, and the Georgia Aquarium. The food was good (but I have had better BBQ). But this place definitely wins on convenience!

Location(s): Centennial Park (Downtown)

Price (from Yelp): $$

My Rating: 3 Stars

Overdrive Lounge (American): I read online poor reviews of this place but I definitely thought a little differently. Or maybe I was just really hungry. But get served drinks on their outdoor patio while watching planes land at the world's busiest airport...Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (yep I typed the entire name). Also, grab you some snacks...this is definitely not a full dinner option. Oh and I forgot to mention this is by Porsche!

Location(s): Hapeville

Price: $$

My Rating: 3 Stars

Poor Calvin’s (Asian Fusion, Southern): This is one my favs as they mix up and recreate how you know southern food! A friend and I went and we ordered so many things to try and enjoyed them all! Be sure to arrive early as the place is kind of small, so their could be a wait.

Location(s): Midtown

Price: $$

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

Boogalou Restaurant & Lounge (American): Now, they have some decent food for your day partying lifestyle (more to come in my upcoming nightlife post). But it isn't anything spectacular. This is just for a good time with friends, music, and maybe to try sitting on the swings at the bar as your stool/chair.

Location(s): Midtown

Price: $$

My Rating: 2.5 Stars

Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q (Barbeque): Well, I should've had my brother comment on this one as he loves their BBQ! It is definitely delicious! They also make their own sauces and side dishes! I love the green beans as they have a little kick to them. But be sure to arrive when they open to get a seat or expect a wait. Oh and you may have to park on the side street next to the restaurant.

Location(s): Decatur, Sun Trust Park, Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Price: $$

My Rating: 4 Stars

Please note: All of the places listed above, I have personally visited at least once unless noted otherwise.

Secondly, Yelp rates pricing up to $$$$ in which would be the most expensive rating.

Also, my rating is out of 5 stars with 5 being the best!
