You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey! You never know dear, how much I love my...bloggers all daaaay long! LOL well I tried to make a remix!
Hey Explorers! Today, I have the pleasure to announce with you all my nomination to the Sunshine Blogger Award thanks to Shametria Shanee! I have been blogging for quite some time but recently brought my blog over to my own website. It has been great to have everything in one place to share with you everything travel related! With that said, I am happy to receive this nomination!
I know, I know, what is the Sunshine Blogger Award?
Well, the Sunshine Blogger Award is given by bloggers to other bloggers who are inspiring, positive, and creative. I am extremely honored to receive this and pass this onto other inspirational bloggers.
Those who are nominated for the award is required to do the following:
Thank the person who nominated you (and provide link to their website);
Answer questions the nominator included in their original post and;
Nominate 11 other bloggers providing them 11 questions for them to answer in their post.
Now that you know the details of the award, let me answer the questions provided to me!
What's your favorite genre of music?
When did you decide to get into blogging?
I have blogging for at least five years but I started out with a more personal blog to share with close friends on Blogger. (Hmmm...I wonder if that blog is still up and running?) But then I switched to Tumblr to obtain slightly more visibility. But I really didn't like the platform as much despite using it for a few years. But after starting my Kita the Explorer venture in July 2016, I decided to bring my blog under my website to have all of my activity in one place!
Where is your favorite place to travel?
You probably would think a traveller as myself would have that one favorite place to visit BUT I don't! I want to see every inch of the world and honestly do not like going back to the same place twice (unless it is my home). The top three places I have enjoyed while visiting are: 1) Brazil, 2) Cuba, and 3) Iceland.
What is one thing you can't live without?
This is a tough one. I know I can't live without a plane to see the world but I would find another way. Not having a smartphone would probably be the worse but there are people in this world who can't afford this luxury. But I do know with droughts in places like California and Cape Town, I know I cannot survive without water; thus, I can't live without it.
Who inspires you and why?
I have plenty of people who inspire from day to day such as Beyonce, Martin Luther King Jr, and Oprah. But my number one inspiration is Former US President Barack Obama. I have read his books and followed his presidency. He strived for multiple things he wanted in life in which many of times would be unselfishly for humanity. I know if he achieved the goals he wanted to achieve, I can as well!
What advice do you have for new bloggers?
Be consistent! When I say be consistent, it is best to publish at the same times of day or day of the week. Also, determine when your audience is active and post at these high volume times. Oh and another note, start off focusing on a niche so you can obtain a focus audience. You don't want people to be confused of what you are truly passionate about.
What's the best advice anyone gave you?
I have received a lot of great advice which focuses towards different parts of your life. But the best is to stay true to yourself!
Are you a morning person? If not, what is your favorite time of the day?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! I must say I have to get up earlier for the grind. But I function best in the evening or at night. So a lot of times I stay up late working on content for all of you which makes my mornings even worse lol.
What's a book you recommend and why?
A book I read (well listened to, I live by audiobooks) recently, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*** by Mark Manson was of the best books I listened to in 2017. This book laid out a lot of things people cannot conceptualize on a daily basis. Listening to this book, I was able to map out my true values and realize my trust scale was correct. I suggest everyone read this book as you will learn a lot about yourself and society from it!
What is one staple item in your closet?
My staple item is my plastic bookbag that I use for travel. The bag is spacious (I usually put another bag inside to hide what I'm actually carrying) but plastic smothers insects to prevent bringing things home such as bedbugs or ants (yes I hate them and don't want them). This is one of my essential travel accessories.
What's the most expensive thing you splurged on?
On a regular basis I spend a lot on travel. My mom always says I would have plenty of money if I didn't travel as much. But hey, travel is the only thing you buy that makes your life richer. Plus, I try to snag as many deals as possible to cut travel costs down! But the biggest single purchase I have splurged on was buying my first home.
I have answered all of my questions, so here are my 11 nominees for the Sunshine Blogger Award:
Each of these bloggers have provided me some type of great reading content and inspiration which has touched my life and I hope they can touch yours! Now, time for the nominee's questions:
What do you like most about blogging?
What your top three favorite places you have visited?
If you just won $1 million, what would you do with it?
If you just won $1 million and had to travel somewhere, where would you go (separate from the last question)?
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
What is your inspiration in life?
What is your favorite dessert?
What is you biggest accomplishment (so far)?
What is your dream job?
Do you have any pets? If so, what kind of pets do you have?
What is your favorite song right now?
I look forward to seeing the answers to my nominees questions!
Thank you for reading and have a great day!
